Ark. Recruit Goes for 65

Kentucky almost had him too. Then, today we learned that Patterson is done for the year with a fracture in his ankle. AND, DeMarcus Cousins chose UAB over Kentucky. Oww!

Pats Not Perfect, Giants Win Super Bowl

In what’s being considered one of the biggest upsets of all time, the Giants beat the Patriots 17-14 on a late 4th quarter drive led by Eli Manning. Wow. I sure didn’t see that happening.

Garber calls Tyree’s catch “Supernatural.” That’s hard to argue with. To me, that was the play of the game.

Congrats to the Giants! I was pulling hard against the Pats, first because I’m just so very sick of them winning; second, because I’m a Dolphins fan from way back; and third because I’m not sold on them doing things the “right way.”

Don’t forget to vote for your favorite Super Bowl commercials. We loved the E-Trade baby.

Justin Johnson Drills 6 Treys In Final 1:56

Iowa’s Justin Johnson hit 6 three pointers in the last 1:56 of the game vs. Indiana. Unfortunately, they still lost. Even still, the man’s a dangerous shooter.

UK v. UofL: 2008 Edition

Everyone knows there’s more pressure on the favorite (Louisville -2.5) to win this game, what with all the pre-season expectations. Sure, Kentucky was supposed to be better than this, but losing this game wouldn’t surprise most UK fans this mostly down season.

Update: Cards blow Cats out Louisville 89, Kentucky 75. Not a fun game for a Cat fan to watch. Please Lord, help Billy G. get some good recruits!

Sports Gal Trounces Sports Guy in NFL Picks Contest

This is just sooo great.

I looked at each game, jotted down my thoughts and quickly made the pick, then expanded them for each pick after the fact.

If I didn’t make it clear enough, I never spend more than 90 seconds total on my picks. [link]

So far she goes 127-104-9 to Bill’s 110-121-9. All I can say is, Bill should be forced to give her a trophy bigger than his Fantasy Football one. Scratch that. She should be allowed to put his trophy in storage. 8^)

Celtics Misjudged as ‘White’ Team

I’ve got to say that I think J.A. Adande’s piece on ESPN is big. The very same message coming from a white author would (incorrectly) be disregarded but since it’s coming from Adande, people will read it. And they should!

Check out these Boston Celtic firsts:

The Celtics were the first NBA franchise to draft an African-American player — Chuck Cooper in 1950.

Why didn’t Spike Lee know this?

They became the first NBA team to send an all-black starting lineup onto the floor.

Seems like something someone should remember.

The Celtics made Russell the league’s first black head coach.

All this should be unnecessary as the team had a whole legion of great black players. For today’s African-Americans to label the Celtics as a white man’s team, makes one wonder if reasonable race relations will ever arrive.

Me? I used to hate the Celtics because I was always a Sixers fan. Well, that was until Rondo arrived.
