Global Warming a Tool Towards Power

A section of page 230 from Mistress of the Pearl reads:

Its shift from the pursuit of science to the amassing of political power had broken the whole into fractious blocs.

How aptly does this describe our current collection of scientists? The truth is merely a matter of degrees, but it’s impossible to deny that certain members of this community utilize topics like “global warming” to further ingratiate themselves up the political power structure.

I’ve found it fascinating that science fiction authors are able to cleverly identify future possibilities in their writings.

Can There Be Christmas Without Christ?

If you are the Federal Government there can. Take this piece from the AFA:

The Plant City Living Center has told Mrs. Arnold, an 85-year-old grandmother in Florida, that federal law prohibits her from displaying any religious words or items associated with Christmas in the common area of her apartment building.

According to the Center, The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued a directive banning “any religious symbols or religious words associated with Christmas.” Under the guidelines issued by HUD, the elderly grandmother cannot place a small Christmas tree outside her door (because that area is a “commons area”) if it contains any religious symbols or religious words, even an angel!

If the residents want to have a Christmas party in their Community room, they cannot call it a Christmas party. The Center says HUD directs residents not to use the word “Christmas” but to use the word “Holiday.”

A Sunday School class from a church near Mrs. Arnold’s apartment comes every year to host a Hanging of the Greens and Christmas Party for all the residents. She said the highlight of their Christmas Party comes at the very end of The Hanging of the Greens when someone places the angel on top of their Christmas tree. Their tradition is now banned by the federal government.

Is that crazy or what? Without Christ there would never have been Christmas in the first place.

Why don’t you use this form to tell HUD what you think about their stance?

Update: Well that was fast!

“I am pleased to report that the Plant City Living Center’s recent newsletter regarding holiday decoration policies has been rescinded. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guarantees the rights of citizens to display religious symbols in public. We support that guarantee.”

“I want to take this opportunity to reiterate to you and to inform your readers that Plant City Living Center respects the religious beliefs of all of its residents. In furtherance of that policy, Plant City Living Center allows residents to decorate their apartments and the exterior areas of their apartments in any manner they choose. To use your recent Action Alert as an example, this policy allows any resident to place a small Christmas tree outside their door and to decorate their tree in any way they wish. By the way, Plant City’s policy also allows angels to be displayed in common areas.”

I’m glad they got things right on this one. How long before the ACLU files suit?

Sexual Orientation Isn’t Genetic, It’s a Choice

With all the talk about EDNA, where 35 Republicans joined with the Democrats to pass the legislation in the House, what still hasn’t been decided is the most important point of all.

Sexual orientation has never been proven to be genetic. Therefore, it has to be a behavior decision.

I’m sure some of my readers will disagree with me, but in the same vein as the complete lack of transitional fossils which kills the theory of evolution, not a single scientist has proven that homosexuality is determined at birth. As far as they’re gone is to say there’s a “disposition”, which seems to be a bit wishy-washy coming from a scientist.

So how can we as a nation pass legislation that puts a behavior on the same footing as gender, race or national origin? Talk about your muddy waters.

Vote “No” on L.O.S.T.

Not Lost the TV show (I love that), this is a piece of legislation called Law of the Sea Treaty. From American Family Association:

Do you want to surrender the word’s oceans and resources to the United Nations?

On Wednesday, October 31, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted on the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST). Now the treaty proceeds to the full Senate.

L.O.S.T. sets up the first international organization with the power to levy taxes on Americans — without our consent! America cannot afford to surrender the world’s oceans to the hate-America U.N. that has no interest in protecting us. This dangerous U.N. treaty would force our Navy to ask the U.N. for “permission” to stop terrorists on the high seas.

In 1978, Ronald Reagan declared, “No national interest of the United States can justify handing sovereign control of two-thirds of the earth’s surface over to the Third World.”

“This is the greatest UN power grab in history… within the authority, consisting of 155 nations, America would have one vote and no veto. However, we would pay the principal share of the operating costs, as we do today of the United Nations.” (Patrick J. Buchanan, www.TheWandererPress.com, October 25, 2007).

According to Buchanan, President Bush already signed the treaty. The Senate must stop this power grab by the U.N. now by voting NO on L.O.S.T. or our sovereignity as a nation will be lost.

I can hardly believe the U.S. would go along with something like this. Or else I’m not understanding it properly. What do you all think?

Hawaii Heads Toward Secession?

Sometimes I wonder what it is that we actually teach our kids about how this country was started. Some people in Hawaii apparently don’t think we got it right the first time.

Yesterday 261 Members of the House of Representatives said Aloha to the principles set forth in the Constitution by voting in favor of H.R. 505, the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act. The bill declares that anyone with at least one ancestor indigenous to Hawaii would have a right to autonomy and self-governance and would require the U.S. to assist them in creating their own new separate government.

Is that completely insane or is it just me?

The U.S. Supreme Court in U.S. v. Sandoval declared that the U.S. Congress does not have the power to create an Indian tribe where one does not exist. Even more recently the U.S. Civil Rights Commission noted that this legislation “would discriminate on the basis of race or national origin and further subdivide the American people into discrete subgroups accorded varying degrees of privilege.” These concerns meant nothing to supporters of the bill. [link]

So… we’re allowed to discriminate by ethnicity for certain things but not others? Yeah, that makes sense.

Colbert for President? Possibly

I just two days ago posted that Colbert had, in Vegas’ eyes, a 1-in-600 chance to be our next President. Now it looks like that idea is picking up steam.

Even the shy soul himself came out of his basement to write an Op-Ed piece for the Times saying:

Let me regurgitate: I know why you want me to run, and I hear your clamor. I share Americans’ nostalgia for an era when you not only could tell a man by the cut of his jib, but the jib industry hadn’t yet fled to Guangdong. And I don’t intend to tease you for weeks the way Newt Gingrich did, saying that if his supporters raised $30 million, he would run for president. I would run for 15 million. Cash.

So there we have it. All that’s needed is a measly 15 mil. That should be easy, right? If all my readers pitched in $277,777.77 we have it covered!

What do you think, people?!? I’ll take out a second mortgage if you will.

Former President of Italy Outraged at Columbia’s Choice of Speaker

I received this correspondance from my overseas pal, MLJ. I have no idea to the veracity of this but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to learn that our increasingly liberal universities have welcomed people like Iran’s current leader with open arms.

Rome, Italy – September 2007

In protest against the invitation of the president of Iran Mahmuda Ahmadineżada on the New York University Columbia the former president Italian Francesco Cossiga gave back the title of the doctor Honoris Causa of this University. Senator Cossiga wrote that he was indignant organizing the lecture of the Iranian leader by the chancellor of UC, whose he called “a threatening neonazi and a Islamic terrorist”.

The former Italian president reminded in the sharp letter to the rector of the University Columbia that Ahmadinejad expressed the thirst of the destruction of Israel. .

“Regardfully for six millions of murdered Jews whose you – racialists old-fashioned, and today also advocates of Islamic terrorists I – catholic , return admitted me the title of Honoris Cause and I burn the toga which you gave to me” – declared Cossiga.

Its own letter finished with words: “without no respect. Francesco Cossiga”. [Source: Poland]

What’s impressive, if true, is Cossigna’s powerful response. I guess once you’ve retired, you can better speak one’s mind.

Brownback Pushing Life Legislation

Ultrasound PictureThis just in from the good folks at the FRC,:

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kans.) believes that it could also be worth thousands of lives. Yesterday, Brownback, one of the Senate’s biggest pro-life champions, introduced a bill called the Ultrasound Informed Consent Act with co-sponsors Sens. Norm Coleman (Minn.), Jim Inhofe (Okla.), Mel Martinez (Fla.), John Thune (S.D.) and David Vitter (La.). Similar to what several states are debating, this bill would require doctors to perform ultrasounds and share those images with any women considering an abortion. Although no woman would be forced to view the ultrasound, she would have the opportunity to make the most informed decision possible. For that reason, even the most militant pro-abortion senators should lend their support to Brownback’s bill. It’s not just pro-life, it’s pro-woman.

But that doesn’t mean they will, unfortunately. Tell your Senators you support this bill! 4D Ultrasounds would be even more impressive.

Taliban Threatens Jawa

Here’s the scoop from Dr. Shackleford:

The official website for the Taliban has publicly challenged The Jawa Report to try to take them back offline again. In an official announcement from the group on a well known Islamist bulletin board, the group gloats that, “For a long time now the official site of the Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan – Taliban has been shut down– due to the exposure and prosecution it was closed by the enemies of Islam,” but that party officials were able to get a new site up and running.

The “enemies of Islam” that were able to get their website shut down? The Jawa Report. :-)

The new website has a few more sophisticated safeguards, some of which we’ve already thwarted, but getting this new website shut down should not be that hard to do–with your help.

The gauntlet has been thrown. The Taliban are practically begging for their website to be PWN3D once again.

If you could please direct your readers to this post and to the complaint e-mails at the bottom of the post, I would be grateful.

http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/188597.php

PS-I was thanked by the Feds for helping get the last Taliban website yanked. So, spare yourself the worrying that they want this website to remain up. They don’t. And providing business services (even free services) to the Taliban remains a Federal crime in the U.S. as well as in most countries.

These are some of the good guys so head over and check them out, if you haven’t already.

Islamic Rage Boy Gear Donates to Charity

This just in from R.H. Potfry and Buckley F. Williams:

We have been lucky enough today to have our Cafe Press store linked at Hot Air and LGF, via press around our character Islamic Rage Boy(C).

The only thing we take seriously is the importance of laughter and satire in dismantling the horror of Islamic fundamentalism.

We have decided to donate all profits generated by sales of Islamic Rage Boy gear between today and Sunday at 10PM EST to the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund.

It’s some crazy satire stuff that might not appeal to everyone but you can be the judge yourself.

Planned Parenthood is a Misnomer

One of the saddest things I’ve read this month.

The 2005-2006 Planned Parenthood Annual Report shows that the organization performed a record 264,943 abortions in 2005 yet did not record a single adoption referral.

If we as a nation don’t protect innocent life, what does that say about us?

Here’s how you might respond.

Ruby Denies O.J., Prepare for the Backlash

It looks like Louisville is in the national eye and this time, not just because of Derby. Angie Fenton first wrote about how local restaurant owner, Jack Ruby, denied service to O.J. Simpson and his entourage last Friday.

Ruby took issue, not with the alleged crimes of the ex-football great, but with his attempt to profit from it.

Repeated winner of the Most Predictable Comments Award, Rev. Louis Coleman, said “We’re challenging Mr. Ruby on this, because if he gets away with this, he can tell … any group he doesn’t want you in there.” He also found time to lead a protest in front of Jack Ruby’s Steakhouse yesterday. (Where does he find time to minister?)

So now it looks like Simpson will sue Mr. Ruby claiming race discrimination. Which is patently absurd considering Ruby served Simpson before the book idea, Ruby served Michael Jordan mere minutes after Simpson was asked to leave, and Ruby serves hundreds of African-American patrons every month.

I don’t know about you, but I applaud Mr. Ruby’s stand for what he believes in. As the owner of the business, I think that should be his right. If he puts off the wrong crowd, capitalism has a way of making things right.

I only wish I could afford to eat at Mr. Ruby’s fine establishment. I hear it’s fabulous. (Be honest, you thought I was going to end with something else, right?)

Gas Out on May 15th

I make no claims about the validity of this information, so it’s on you to do your homework pally.

Don’t pump gas on MAY 15th

In April 1997, there was a “gas out” conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that’s almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldn’t) resend this to all your contact list. With it saying, ”Don’t pump gas on May 15th”
