Republicans Point the Finger, Need to Get a Grip

Tony Perkins runs a tight ship over at the FRC. I might as well just post his dailies here. Anyway, a little background:

  1. I vote for whoever most closely matches my values.
  2. I get my values from the Bible.
  3. These values are considered by today’s standards extremely Conservative.
  4. Republicans are more Conservative than Democrats, in most cases.
  5. I hate most politicians, regardless of Party, because they seldom tell the truth for more than 120 seconds.

Ok, with that said, a large number of Republicans are just as bad as the Democrats in my book. Here they show their true colors.

“To listen to some Republicans… you would think that traditional conservatives, the defenders of the unborn and the integrity of marriage… were responsible for two wars gone sour, over-spending at a level to embarrass Lyndon Johnson, the largest expansion of entitlement spending since the Great Society, numerous cases of GOP corruption, betrayal of the public trust… and the miserable results in the presidential and congressional elections…”

Like us, Tracy Mehan of the American Spectator is fed up with the Republicans’ post-election finger-pointing. In his op-ed “Social Conservative as Scapegoats,” he lashes out at the GOP’s centrists for blaming November 4 on “the solid and most loyal” wing of the Reaganite coalition.

To those of us in the pro-family movement, the Establishment’s diatribe is a familiar one. When the GOP succeeds because of social conservatives, our importance is ignored. When the party fails for overlooking us, values voters are somehow to blame. With the exception of Gov. Sarah Palin and some hollow overtures by the Democratic Party, the 20 percent of voters who cited “moral values” as their first or second priority in this election had no real horse in this race.

Maybe that explains why believers were less active in this election cycle. More than four million Americans who go to church more than once a week and voted in 2004 stayed home on November 4. Those voters would have made up half the difference between McCain and Obama. As the members of the Republican party jockey for position in this brave new Congress and sort out their internal leadership, a commitment to life and marriage is non-negotiable.

Without it, the prospects of a Republican revival are bleak. As Karl Rove rightly points out, “These values are often more popular than the GOP itself.”

Main Polls Overinflate Obama Lead

Are polls inaccurate? Of course. Are they purposefully misleading? It wouldn’t surprise me. Here’s some after election data for you: Pollsters Inflated Obama Lead.

As of noon Wednesday, Obama had won 63 million votes — 52 percent of the vote — compared with McCain’s 46 percent and 55.8 million. This amounts to a 6-point difference between the two candidates.

Right. We know that already. So, which polls are the best?

Two polls emerged as the most accurate: The Pew Research and Rasmussen Reports, which showed the race precisely at 52 percent to 46 percent.

Ahh… the ones that CBS, ABC and the rest regularly leave out. I see.

But poll predictions of Gallup, Reuters/Zogby, ABC/Washington Post, and CBS all had Obama winning by between 9 and 11 points.

So were they just poor pollsters are is there some underlying deceit in those organizations?

BTW, for those who claim that Fox is the polar opposite of the mainstream media, they had Obama winning by 7 points. Not a single poll had Obama winning by less than 5 points.

Obama Wins Election

Falling asleep, these lyrics came to my mind:

Be careful what you wish for,
‘Cause you just might get it all.

What do you think?

Election Day in America

Given the non-stop media barrage, I’ll be glad when this election is over. Not because I’ll be happy with the outcome, mind you, but because I won’t have to watch the endless stream of hateful ads and obvious liberal bias in the media. They can’t even disguise their slants any more.

Then you have the doofus academic elites doing pathetic pranks; acting more like students than professors.

In his blog post, Busse said “yanking out the signs and running like a scared rabbit back to my idling car was one of the single-most exhilarating and empowering political acts that I have ever done.”

How enlightened. This kind of behavior isn’t limited to one side of the aisle.

Democrats are criticizing a 38-year-old man who parked a trailer load of manure across the street from Whitehall’s Democratic campaign office to protest presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Just plain silly.

No, the saddest part of things, at least to me, is that our culture is becoming increasingly secular. More and more people don’t see God as relevant to our lives. Our obsession with celebrity, our constant striving for more money, our unhealthy addiction to the pleasures of this world… all of this will ultimately leave us empty.

Instead, we should all be working towards the day, when at the end of our lives, we’ve built a relationship with the One who can lead us on to the next life.

Obama Courts All for Political Gain

This doesn’t surprise me in the least: Obama-Farrakhan Ties Are Close, Ex-Farrakhan Aide Says

“Remember that for years, if you were a politician in Chicago, you had to have some type of relationship with Louis Farrakhan. You had to. If you didn’t, you would be ostracized out of black Chicago,” said Dr. Vibert White Jr., who spent most of his adult life as a member and ultimately top officer of the Nation of Islam.

Should U.S. Pull Out of Chicago?

Complete cut-and-paste from RedCounty.com because, who knows, someone might bring down the site after seeing this.

Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago?
Posted by: Rus Thompson | 10/20/2008 7:42 AM

WOW! Maybe we should have a PLAN to pull out immediately. I want to see a timeline and an action plan. When are the politicians and the Police going to take control of their streets, isn’t it about time for some personal responsibility? What’s the old saying? People that live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones? I do believe the same things go on in DC….

Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago; 221 killed in Iraq.

Sens. Barack Obama & Dick Durbin, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., Gov. Rod Blogojevich, House leader Mike Madigan, Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike), Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley) …..our leadership in Illinois…..all Democrats.

Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course, they’re all blaming each other. Can’t blame Republicans; they’re aren’t any! State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look ‘em up if you want).
Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he’s gonna ‘fix’ Washington politics for us!

Heritage Foundations Take on Candidates Fiscal Policy

I recently saw an Obama ad (who hasn’t) that cited a recommendation by the Heritage Foundation. I knew the Heritage Foundation to be a fiscally conservative organization, which also happens to be the wisest course given the last 60 years of out-of-control government spending (by both parties!) but I wanted to check for myself.

So I headed over to their site to see if they truly endorsed Obama’s tax plans over McCain’s. (All this assumes either candidate will actually do what they say. I know, I know, fool me once…)

Here’s the analysis. Here’s the conclusion. You be the judge.

The economy improves under each plan as compared to the baseline. The baseline forecast assumes that all of the Bush tax cuts disappear, which raises the cost of capital and marginal tax rates. Both candidates plan to reduce taxes compared to this scenario.

Senator McCain’s plan is substantially better at spurring economic growth than Senator Obama’s. This is not surprising, since Senator McCain focuses on economic growth and job creation while Senator Obama focuses on the redistribution of income. As Tax Policy Center Director Len Burman states, “the major themes of the two plans are, in the case of Senator McCain’s plan, that the major emphasis is on economic efficiency—cuts marginal tax rates, improves economic incentives…. In the case of Obama’s plan, the goal is primarily to improve progressivity…to lower tax burdens on low-income people and raise them on higher-income people.”[10] Each presidential candidate achieves his stated goal, with Senator McCain generating the most new jobs, growth, and additional income for individuals. Senator Obama’s plan drives up the tax rate for individuals with annual incomes above $250,000 and redistributes money to workers with lower incomes.

Obama as Actor

Zing! It finally occurred to me. How could I have missed this before? What triggered this idea? I read the following:

Obama speaks plenty about supporting our troops but he’s only made two trips to Iraq. How many trips has he made to the battleground state of Iowa which is important in his upcoming Presidential election? 45.

Obama isn’t evil. He’s not the next coming of Hitler or Mussolini. He’s really just another tax-and-spend politician—a power broker.

How did he arrive at the precipice of the most powerful position in the world? With looks, and charm, and slick words. Nothing else really. What he really is is a fabulous actor. Don’t think if Denzel was running he wouldn’t be ordering new furnishings for the Oval Office right now. (BTW, I love Denzel the actor. Denzel the politician, not so much.)

That’s why when Hollywood had to choose between old, white, unhip Hillary and young, (semi) attractive, black Obama they went his way in droves. It’s not about their political positions, as with most who practice these days they can be changed like a new wardrobe. It was about his image. How good would he have been on The West Wing?

The troubling thing is that as goes Hollywood, then follows the media and eventually most of America. We certainly love our celebrities.

Obama is going to win the White House in three weeks. But it won’t be because of any ability to help America improve itself. It will be because he chose “Change” as his mantra and portrayed the role of President better than anyone else running.

Abortion Has Harmful Effects on Women’s Mental Health

Pro-choice supporters claim that their position is in the best interest of women. Doing so while ignoring the data that shows abortion deals damage to more than just the baby.

This from the FRC.

Abortion has more than its share of moral complexities, but a panel of experts at FRC headquarters today showed that it poses an especially dangerous threat to women’s mental health. To a capacity crowd, experts and clinicians did what the American Psychological Association refused to do in its latest report on abortion and mental health: told the truth-the whole truth-about the relationship between abortion and depression, anxiety disorders, suicide, and substance abuse.

The prevalence of these symptoms among the 30 million women who have had the procedure is climbing at an alarming rate. While the research has yet to give pro-abortion leaders pause, the American people are taking the harmful effects of abortion very seriously. In a blockbuster poll released at today’s lecture, the Elliot Institute found that 85 percent of American adults believe that “significant emotional problems” after an abortion are “common” or “very common.” Only 15 percent of the people surveyed believe that abortion generally makes women’s lives better. Seventy-one percent of participants across the ideological spectrum said that conducting research on these post-abortion complications should be a moderate to high priority.

David Reardon, director of the Elliot Institute, hinted at the policy implications of the study. “Politicians who ignore the issue of post-abortion complications are ignoring an important concern of the American people.” Of equal concern to pro-lifers is that millions of these women are suffering at the hands of government-funded organizations like Planned Parenthood.

The public is ready to address this problem. Is Congress? If you missed the discussion, we encourage you to log onto our website, www.frc.org, and watch this outstanding panel for yourself.

YouTube Joins Google in Censorship of Pro-Life Posts

It just never stops does it? Well, we’ve all heard “There’s no rest for the wicked.” Just read this from the FRC:

As more organizations try to shine light on Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) abortion record in Illinois, his campaign has possibly found an ally in YouTube. The video clearinghouse, which has become one of the Internet’s biggest sensations, blocked a pro-life post from the Kansas Coalition for Life that detailed Obama’s unconditional support of abortion–including partial-birth abortion. As an explanation, the Coalition received only a simple message from YouTube stating that the video violated its “community guideline[s].” Although other posts contained similar footage of abortion procedures, they were not removed-presumably because they made no mention of Obama.

Google, YouTube’s parent company, is no stranger to censoring pro-life message. As we mentioned last week, a Christian group just took the online superpower to court for refusing to let a British organization buy ad space to promote life. Unfortunately, this is hardly the first time YouTube has engaged in political censorship. Lila Rose, the UCLA student who taped Planned Parenthood’s willingness to earmark donations for black babies, has also been blocked from posting videos that would incriminate the nation’s largest abortion merchant.

Hoping to defray his opposition to the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, Obama’s campaign released a new ad saying his votes on the issue “were taken out of context” and people suggesting otherwise were guilty of “despicable lie[s].” Yet even the Associated Press corroborates pro-lifers’ claims, writing, “As an Illinois state senator, Obama opposed three legislative efforts in 2001, 2002, and 2003 to give legal protections to any aborted fetus that showed signs of life.” [link]

Obama’s voting record is available for everyone to see, even if he claims that we’re “taking them out of context” but that’s hogwash. He’s just spinning. Like all politicians do. *sigh*

When will it all end?

I didn’t know the Dorian Grey Syndrome had this many side-effects.
