Computer Rules Guitar Hero, Um Yeah

This should come as a surprise to anyone. What is surprising is that someone took the time to set it all up!

Hope For a Better Day

Shadowfeet

Walking, stumbling on these shadowfeet
Toward home, a land that I’ve never seen
I am changing
Less and less asleep
Made of different stuff than when I began
And I have sensed it all along
Fast approaching is the day

When the world has fallen out from under me
I’ll be found in you, still standing
When the sky rolls up and mountains fall on their knees
When time and space are through
I’ll be found in you

There’s distraction buzzing in my head
Saying in the shadows it’s easier to stay
But I’ve heard rumours of true reality
Whispers of a well-lit way

When the world has fallen out from under me
I’ll be found in you, still standing
When the sky rolls up and mountains fall on their knees
When time and space are through
I’ll be found in you

You make all things new

When the world has fallen out from under me
I’ll be found in you, still standing
When the sky rolls up and mountains fall on their knees
When time and space are through
I’ll be found in you

When the world has fallen out from under me
I’ll be found in you, still standing
Every fear and accusation under my feet
When time and space are through
I’ll be found in you
When time and space are through
I’ll be found in you
When time and space are through
I’ll be found in you

At first I thought this was Nicole Nordeman but learned it’s a song from the Albertine CD by Brooke Fraser. If these words mean something to you, please leave a comment and let me know why.

The Beatles Are Coming to Rock Band

The musigame wars are heating up! Guitar Hero is trying to one-up their competition with multi-colored cardboard Burger King meal boxes. Rock Band? They’ve just signed the biggest musical act of all time.

I wonder which game is going to win in the end?

‘Moving Pictures’ Comes to Rock Band, Rush Fans Rejoice

The only thing you need to know is Moving Pictures will be on XBox Marketplace on Thursday. Good night now.

Update: Now I’m reading Aug. 26th!

Update 2: I just checked, 9:42 EST, and it’s not there yet. 8^(

Update 3: Argh!

Bad news, everyone! This week’s Rock Band DLC offering — Rush’s Moving Pictures album — didn’t come out today as planned. In a post on the forums, Harmonix’s Sean Baptiste said, “There is a technical difficulty that is being worked out. I’ll alert you when it is all clear.” We wonder if that has anything to do with figuring out how to tell singers they can’t wail on “YYZ.” It’s okay, please stop crying.

No timeline has been given, although at this point it seems more likely the Xbox 360 content will be released alongside PlayStation 3′s content this week. That is, assuming they fix the problem by Thursday.

Future DLC for Rock Band?

Kotaku is reporting that some inventive hacker has discovered a list of songs embedded with the code of the game. Because many of these songs are already in the game or part of DLC, people are surmising that the rest are soon to come. Could be?

There are a couple noteworthy songs in this list but not nearly as many as I had hoped. Has music passed me by? Am I getting old? Or, is Harmonix just not very good at securing good music for their games?

Dave Gahan Asking God the Big Question

“Kingdom” by Dave Gahan

Can you feel me coming
open the door it’s only me
I have that desperate feeling
in trouble is where I’m going to be

I know you hear me knocking
so open the door and set me free

If there’s a kingdom beyond it all
is there a god who loves us all
do we believe in love at all
I’m still pretending, I’m not a fool

So in your infinite wisdom
show me how this life should be
all your love and glory
doesn’t mean that much to me

If there’s a kingdom beyond it all
is there a god who loves us all
do we believe in love at all
I’m still pretending, I’m not a fool

I’m a big fan of Depeche Mode’s music—truly innovators of an entire genre. The lifestyle of overpaid rock stars? Not so much.

The reason I post this video is because I believe that when people get honest with God, especially when they might not have before, they get an answer. Who knows how God might have answered Dave, but at this point, at least the discussion is on the table.

BTW, the video’s lighting concept is uber cool.

GH Fuels Music Sales

In what amounts to the least “big surprise” ever, songs included on games like Guitar Hero have seen their sales jump. Of course, some more than others. Older, more established songs generally increase by a smaller margin. So the question remains why do some artists continue to refuse to play?

Paladin’s Guitar Hero 3 Review

I bet some on you have been wondering if Paladin was going to say anything about GH3 since that’s about all he was clamoring about for months. The game arrives and zip, nada, nothing!

Well, the truth is that I’ve been spending a lot of time playing the game. I’m truly addicted and have an insatiable desire for more songs… MORE SONGS!

But I’ve taken time away from the game to post my thoughts about the song selections, their translation to GH notes and their difficulty on Expert mode. (Given my previous “practice sessions” I now start on Expert difficulty setting. How many old men can say the same? I’m such a geek.)

So, let’s get right to it!
