I have to say that I’m totally psyched about Flirtin’ With Disaster. Did you see that I had it on my Paladin’s Wishlist for New Guitar Hero Songs?

They took my requests!!

  • Green Grass and High Tides by The Outlaws
  • Won’t Get Fooled Again by The Who
  • Smashing Pumpkins “Cherub Rock”
  • Flirtin’ With Disaster

That’s 4 direct hits!!

Near Misses would be:

  • Tom Sawyer instead of Spirit of the Radio
  • Long Time instead of Don’t Look Back
  • Wicked Garden by STP, even though Vasoline would have been better.
  • In Bloom instead of Lithium

Pleasant Surprises:

  • Electric Version, fun song by a crazy band
  • R.E.M.’s Orange Crush will be loads of fun
  • “Sabotage” by the Beasties. Oh yeah!

What do you think?

Hawaii Heads Toward Secession?

Sometimes I wonder what it is that we actually teach our kids about how this country was started. Some people in Hawaii apparently don’t think we got it right the first time.

Yesterday 261 Members of the House of Representatives said Aloha to the principles set forth in the Constitution by voting in favor of H.R. 505, the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act. The bill declares that anyone with at least one ancestor indigenous to Hawaii would have a right to autonomy and self-governance and would require the U.S. to assist them in creating their own new separate government.

Is that completely insane or is it just me?

The U.S. Supreme Court in U.S. v. Sandoval declared that the U.S. Congress does not have the power to create an Indian tribe where one does not exist. Even more recently the U.S. Civil Rights Commission noted that this legislation “would discriminate on the basis of race or national origin and further subdivide the American people into discrete subgroups accorded varying degrees of privilege.” These concerns meant nothing to supporters of the bill. [link]

So… we’re allowed to discriminate by ethnicity for certain things but not others? Yeah, that makes sense.

Hand Tuba Master Plays ‘Sanford and Son’ Theme

In keeping with my completely juvenile posting, there’s this guy. Just so you know, he’s a “manualist.” Also known as a goofwad. In either case, he’s miles better than this guy.

  5. Calif. fires force 250,000 from their homes
“It was nuclear winter. It was like Armageddon. It looked like the end of the world,” Mitch Mendler, a San Diego firefighter, said as he and his crew stopped at a shopping center parking lot to refill their water truck from a hydrant near a restaurant. “I lost count” of how many homes burned.

Colbert for President? Possibly

I just two days ago posted that Colbert had, in Vegas’ eyes, a 1-in-600 chance to be our next President. Now it looks like that idea is picking up steam.

Even the shy soul himself came out of his basement to write an Op-Ed piece for the Times saying:

Let me regurgitate: I know why you want me to run, and I hear your clamor. I share Americans’ nostalgia for an era when you not only could tell a man by the cut of his jib, but the jib industry hadn’t yet fled to Guangdong. And I don’t intend to tease you for weeks the way Newt Gingrich did, saying that if his supporters raised $30 million, he would run for president. I would run for 15 million. Cash.

So there we have it. All that’s needed is a measly 15 mil. That should be easy, right? If all my readers pitched in $277,777.77 we have it covered!

What do you think, people?!? I’ll take out a second mortgage if you will.
