Thanks for pointing me to the Scanner Darkly trailer! I hadn’t seen it yet.
Last year at National Review, Peter Suderman used this movie as a jump-off to write an interesting analysis of how Dick’s novels translate (for better or for worse) to the big screen.
I’ve been intrigued about the movie ever since. Though Suderman doesn’t say whether he thinks Scanner is any good, or even if he liked it, he does say it makes your brain go *sproing* in a manner faithful to the book.
And the trailer seems to confirm it. I’m looking forward to this one.

A Scanner Darkly was a good movie. It can be a confusing movie if you don’t know the story…but I think that my finding out the story after made the ending more enjoyable. I liked the ending of the movie.
My fave character was probably the one played by Robert Downey, Jr. It was interesting to hear him talk so quickly
I think it was last summer that it came out…started in a few cities & kept on picking up more. I am a bit geeky so I had been intensely looking for it.
Ah…I looked it up. It came out as a very limited release at the beginning of 2006 & went to wide release by the end of July. It was supposed to come out in September of 2005…I found the wait excruciating.
