Barret’s Heart Is Great

We received a wonderful answer to prayer this week, as we learned that his ASD and VSD have both completely closed. The doctor has told us that he’s got a “healthy heart” and doesn’t need to come back for any more visits. We’re so thankful and relieved. We appreciate all you who prayed for Barret and us… you’re the best!

  1. The Media vs. The War on Terror
This is an in-depth report on how the Dominant Press (i.e. MSM) has used their position to steer public opinion their way. For example, “ABC, CBS and NBC heavily favored critics of the Patriot Act. Of 23 soundbites from “experts” (such as law professors or ex-FBI agents), 61 percent faulted the law as a threat to privacy rights. Of 19 soundbites from ordinary citizens, every one condemned the Patriot Act, despite polls showing most Americans support the Patriot Act and believe it has prevented new acts of terrorism.” You might want to link this up.

  4. Stylus Magazine’s Top 100 Music Videos of All Time
I kick myself because I’ve been wanting to do something similar for months since discovering that YouTube has almost every video under the sun. Great stuff!
  5. Christian Bands Now A Crossover Miracle
Really the whole segregation is broken. While every other genre of music is based on the musical sound of an artist, Christian music is “set apart” because of the content of it’s lyrics. I think that’s unfortunate.

Jihad or Not, Islam Kills

This past week I heard part of a discussion with Robert Spencer (of Jihad Watch) and Jeff Sacci on the Michael Medved show. At one point, Medved posed this question to pro-Islam Sacci: Which Islam country would you hold up as a good example of religious tolerance? (paraphrased) To which Sacci replied, “Indonesia and Malaysia.”

It’s pretty sad that merely days later that very country, Indonesia, executed three Catholic priests without a fair trail. Christians in that country are now rioting and violence between the faiths is growing. Now a second Christian was murdered in Assyria simply because he was a Christian and the Muslim murder(s) were still upset about the remarks (remarks!) from Pope Benedict.

Lileks has it right.

But it’s not what we say that truly offends. It’s what we are. The West’s lack of interest in joining the Ummah is an affront in itself, and we broadcast our sins in High Infidelity. If you believed that the West’s apostasy was an affront to God, you’d spend your leisure hours torching straw popes too.

In the meantime, we will learn to say less and less about more and more. As the grim cliche has it: If you say Islam isn’t always a religion of peace, the Islamicists will kill you. This doesn’t make them hypocrites, of course. The grave is a very peaceful place.

Islam has become the biggest bully on the block. They’ll punch you in the stomach and take your lunch money if you just look at them wrong. Except in our real world, it’s usually fatal.

Islam and Its Stereotype

Just Monday I posted about the falacy that so many think All Faiths Equal. Tony Perkins, in today’s Washington Update, speaks clearly to this issue yet again:

We are all aware of the unjust outrage this week by many Muslims around the world over comments by Pope Benedict XVI, who was merely trying to argue against violence in the name of religion and to insist upon a necessary connection between faith and reason. Some commentators claimed the furious Muslim over-reaction showed that Islam is, in fact, unable to separate violence from faith. Today, in one Muslim country that has been marked by inter-religious violence, Indonesia, the government is considering whether to execute three Catholic priests, Dominggus da Silva, Fabianus Tibo, and Marianus Riwu. The evidence from their trial clearly shows they have been railroaded and deserve, at the least, a re-trial. However, we have learned there is a real possibility the Indonesian government will execute them soon, possibly by Friday night. If Islamic countries and adherents of that faith wish to demonstrate what they always claim – that Islam is a peaceful religion – the best place to start is with clemency for these innocent Indonesian Catholic priests. You can help. Please send a fax to Sudjadnan Parnohadiningrat, Indonesian Ambassador to the U.S. (fax: 202-775-5365), requesting that the Indonesian government grant clemency, or a re-trial, for these priests.

Survivor: Cook Islands – Week 2

One of the strangest Survivor’s ever, let’s get right to it!

  • What the heck was that exchange with Billy all about? Is this 4th grade?!? Was there a time warp portal that everyone passed through in that obstacle course? Is English his 2nd language? Because, if we go back to the video tape, INSTANT REPLAY, it clearly went like, Billy: “I’m next to go.” Girls from White Tribe: “Aww, we love you.” Billy with a sheepish look to just Candice: “I love you.” Huh?!?! Talk about your monumental misunderstandings!? That was just bizarre.
  • How about Parvati’s “Marilyn” line about flirting, “It’s what I do.” Only in Reality TV do we get regular people making themselves look this silly, when they’re trying to look like movie stars.
  • So Ozzy is the island’s biggest villain? I’m not buying it.
  • How many of you thought, how silly will the Black tribe feel when they watch all the episodes and realize they were WAY too happy to come in 3rd in this challenge when the Hispanic tribe just threw it?
  • How smart is Yul? It took him all of what, an hour, to find the Hidden Immunity? Plus he’s nice. Plus he’s strong. He’s my leading candidate to win this year. Plus, since there’s only ever been one other Yul in recorded history, I say, let’s shave his head and call him Yul II.
  • Cao Boi is like Triumph the Insult Dog. He’ll just say whatever. Please don’t vote him out! There are way too many funny exchanges just waiting to happen. What about if they overdub his voice with Triumph’s? Either way, let’s keep him around awhile.

Voted Out

Billy In the end, Christina, who’s showing the compassionate side of cops, made the smart move and helped to vote Billy off. It was the right choice. Hopefully, her and Cecelia can bond and not get hit by the gangbanger Ozzy and his posse J.P.

I thought the Russian kid’s extreme gymnastics was sick, this Osman guy is insane! It turns out, that Osman kept pushing the envelope until it finally broke. Adrenaline can be as habit forming as any non-natural drug.

‘Lost’ Is The Best Show

It’s the best. Simply the best. Nothing else comes close. Well… 24 comes pretty close, but for me, the way this show keeps you always on your toes makes it the no-duh #1 Draft Pick in today’s TV lineup. Season 1 was stellar and now Season 2 is taking it to “a hoe nuvah lebole.” Do yourself a favor, buy it, BUY IT NOW! Honestly, why am I sitting here typing this post when I could be starting in on that next disc, see ya…

Microsoft Brings ‘Shadowrun’ to Multiplayer

First there was D&D. It was so wildly successful, that new role-playing games like Wild West and Shadowrun were invented to bring the same imaginative experience to new genres.

Now we hear that Microsoft is bringing back the Shadowrun brand in a new multiplayer game. This is interesting in that the Shadowrun intellectual properties are owned by WizKids Inc. Maybe they just don’t have the dollars to fight the MS law team.

We’re still early in the dev cycle but the reviews are quite positive. Microsoft is not usually one for being innovative, this tells me that FASA Studio is getting a long leash. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how it turns out.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

Apparently, today is Talk Like a Pirate Day. Why? Because these people said so. If I hadn’t seen Wife Swap last night, I would have thought, “Hey, that’s pretty cool. Why not?” But since I did see the show, I think these people are pathetic and seriously screwing up their kids.

Anyone who believes that anarchy makes for a good family situation is either delusional or evil. I know those are strong words, but did you see the show? My only hope is that their whole pirate bit was just for show, and in real life, they are working to train their kids about right and wrong.

‘All Faiths Equal’ Propaganda Exposed

Here’s just one more piece of evidence that shows the world’s faiths are clearly different not only in their descriptions of God, but in the way their members interact with people both inside and outside their circle of faith.

In a speech last week, the Pope quoted a 14th century emperor who criticized some of Mohammad’s teachings for their endorsement of violence. So the Muslim group Al-Qaeda responds with “We shall break the cross and spill the wine. … (you will have no choice but) Islam or death.” and threaten jihad to “worshippers of the cross.” [link]

It would be so much easier to characterize these kinds of statements/actions as irregular within the faith of Islam, if the remaining portion of the faith were quick to condemn them as not a part of true Islam. But those reprimands are few and far between. Thus we’re left with images of Muslims dancing in the streets as their enemies die.

Update: Muslim gunmen kill a nun and her bodyguard in Somalia and Palestinians set fire to a Roman Catholic church.
