Air Support

Didn’t see this until today but we’ve got soldiers in Iraq asking for our prayer support. These are the guys that delivered the voting machines Iraqis used yesterday to make history. You gotta believe that God had a hand in making the elections as free of violence as it was. We all need to support our troops in as many ways as possible.

Grandma Is Packing

Ok, I’m not sure that Gloria Turner is a Grandma. But she could be! She and her husband didn’t take kindly to a couple of dopes trying to rob their store so they handled it. It’s times like this that the Right to Bear Arms becomes so obviously important.

Dust Mites vs. The Maid

Clean freak? Hypochondriac? Well, you might want to read this little piece about how it’s better to not make your bed. That’s what I’ve been thinking since college. Right.

Iraqi Elections Huge Success

Despite all we’ve been hearing about how voter turnout would be “low” and “timid” the exact opposite is the case. Some estimates have it over 60%. It seems our journalists underestimated their resolve. My hat is off to Iraq beginning the journey of democracy, one we’ve only been on ourselves for two fast centuries. There’s some great stuff over at Friends of Democracy, coming directly from the Iraqi people.

What is the Red Bear Doing Lately?

I just read a very interesting post over on Everything I Know Is Wrong. It’s about how Russia, in an effort to become relevant again is in the process of chumming it up with China. Add Russian’s often antagonistic spirit to China’s sheer numbers and we’ve got a scary hostile possibility that reminds some folks of:

And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number. -Revelation 9:15-16

Sexual Orientation Genetic?

Scientists keep trying, but this quote is telling.

“Since sexual orientation is such a complex trait, we’re never going to find any one gene that determines whether someone is gay or not,” says Mustanski.

I’m not sure what the goal of this research is, but there is plenty of evidence that shows that homosexuality is not genetic (.pdf). Isn’t there a better way to be spending these research dollars? Perhaps cancer research?

Girl’s Got Guts

Love her or hate her, you gotta admit Hillary Clinton’s got guts. After all she’s done and said, she’s now got the nerve to criticize Bush over abortion. Incredible.

Today’s KITT

Ok, this may not be as cool as KITT, but we’re getting closer to the day when cars will understand us. Gracenote is working on voice recognition system where your favorite tunes are just a request away. In the voice of Mr. Dynamite, “Sah-weet!”

10-4 Good Buddy

Now here’s a great idea. Let the people out in the field, in this case truckers, help identify potential terrorists. If this works, the CB radio might actually become useful!

Caviezel Gets Snubbed

James Caviezel as Jesus in The Passion of the Christ

I don’t know why this didn’t occur to me before, but suddenly I’m outraged at the obvious slight from the academy directed at James Caviezel. I’ve noted recently that some critics are talking about how The Passion of the Christ should have been nominated for Best Picture and wasn’t but I don’t have near as much brewing bile for that matter as for who is getting the Best Actor award.

Many could claim that the Passion is a history lesson. Or, it’s not “entertaining” enough. Or, they know the outcome from the outset. All true enough so I can stomach it not receiving a nod. But Caviezel’s performance in what’s arguably the most difficult role an actor could ever undertake was stellar. That fact that he was passed by can only be attributed to politics, ever the enemy of justice. In my book, Caviezel deserves the recognition, with Jamie Foxx getting the runner-up for his amazing portrayal of Ray Charles.

Purist Evil

Brady in Uniform

Hiding in that darn uniform.
Brady without helmet

His mistake was taking off that helmet.

ImageEnhancer2000 reveals the truth.

Before now it was just a suspicion, but conclusive evidence now shows that Tom Brady has, in fact, made a deal with the devil. There was no other possible explanation.

BloggerCred Grows

Sure it’s c|net but it’s always good to get some attention. This time folks interested in the Super Bowl are keeping an eye on blogs. I thought this bit was interesting:

Cincinnati-based Intelliseek, for one, plans to monitor positive and negative commentary about commercials in more than 3.5 million blogs, charging advertisers upward of $20,000 for its intelligence.

That’s gonna be one busy bot! Or else they could be off-shoring that puppy to Ivan?

Ya Bucket of Bolts!

Don’t you hate it when your computer hits you with an error message that doesn’t make sense? Wouldn’t it be better if it were more human? How about this?

Error Message

This came from Atom Smasher via Presurfer but I didn’t care for the image quality so I made this one. And, “yes.” I do have too much time on my hands.

Constantine the Movie

Constantine

Let me just say that I’m a huge Matrix fan. Even while I think Keanu Reeves is one of the worst actors of our day. Such conflict has increased my psychotherapy bills greatly.

So it is with a measure of reserve that I anticipate February 18th and the coming of Constantine. Here’s hoping the story holds together and they don’t go all Hollywood with it.
