Designer Found Lacking?

For those valiant and noble readers still with me, you can see that this site is beginning to look like its author had intended. Still lacking supreme CSS power, those bulleted lists at right still frustrate me mightily. For doth, it is yet beyond my paltry augury yet still I press on, to try again.

And where did I pick up this Shakespeare lingo?

Quake/Tsunami in ’04

The death toll from this week’s disaster is over 60,000. Visit Prestopundit for the up-close-and-personal video. I just keep thinking about the words of Jesus.

End of the Fantasy

A Ford commercial asks, “What do you think of when you hear, ‘Fantasy’.”
A) Wizards and Dragons
B) Swimsuit Model
C) Football

Three decades ago I would have said, “A”.
Two decades “B”.
Today? It’s gotta be “C”.

So it’s a sad day when all the fun comes to a screeching halt. In our main league—The Breakfast Club—I lead all season only to fall flat come playoffs time. Sounds like last year. Heck, sounds like the Philadelphia Eagles.

Breakfast Club: Final Standings | Playoffs

On to the backup league! It was the battle of titans. #1 vs. #2. Ali vs. Fraser. Serena vs. Venus… er, okay maybe not. I was the underdog, but thanks to lackluster performances by every single one of my players except LT the Wunderkind, I fell to some cocky college kid. Second place isn’t so bad?

Injustice and Hollywood Elite

I have no problem stating that the People’s Choice Awards are more relavant than the Oscars. They should also be more esteemed since much of what goes into the ballotting and subsequent “voting” is subject to the kind of political manuerving that would make Illinois Democrats proud.

Case in point, Pulp Fiction. Before last night, I had never seen it. Now I wish I was still that pure. There must have a been a full-scale, behind-the-scenes campaign to market it as a good film because it certainly wasn’t. A large number of well-known and/or accomplished actors does not by association a good film make.

Pulp Fiction is one of the worst movies of all time.

Maybe Quentin threw around a few “gifts”? Perhaps Travolta and Willis called in a couple of “favors”? In any event, this disjointed, love-affair-with-violence is certainly not a great movie and it is unjust to call it one. Sure there can be differences of opinion but this ranks up there with The English Patient. No matter how many critics fawn over a film, don’t be deceived… they may just have an agenda.

Reggie White: The Minister of Defense

Reggie White, the long-time Packer sackman passed away today. Reggie was much more than an amazing football player, he was a man of God. Which in this day and age doesn’t get nearly the accolades it deserves.

The Weather Outside is Frightful…

Oh my goodness there’s a lot of snow around here. But, of course, our mayor says the city is handling it well. What else is he going to say? “We’re really just a bunch of lazy government employees, so don’t expect that snow cleared any time soon.” Uh huh.

Cats Showing the Love

How can you not love the Kentucky players as they visit the local children’s hospital? What? I forgot to mention how UK came back from 16 points at the half to beat UofL on a last second play by Patrick Sparks? Oh silly me. ;^)

The Smallest Baby in the World

Rumaisa Rahman, born three months ago in Illinois at the astonishing weight of 8.6 ounces, finally gets to go home. What a remarkable time we live in. Scott Peterson gets two counts of murder for killing his wife and unborn baby. A pregnant mother is killed for her unborn child while others are “aborting” them and fighting for the right to kill more.

Society calls one a murder; the other a right. It’s easy to see why kids today are confused and nihilistic.

Soda? Pop? Er… Coke?

Growing up in Kentucky, we usually just answered, “Yeah, I’ll have a Coke.”
To which the response invariably came back, “Ok. What kind?”
And viola! “Root beer, please.”

Now, I understand that different parts of the country like to have things their own way, a la the Burger King, but it always struck me as odd hearing my friends ask for a “Pop.” Being a boy, of course, I hit them. Now I’m beginning to see that half the nation is crazy? I’ll let you judge just which half.

The Meaning of Christmas

I thought Christmas would be a worthy topic of this site’s inaugural post (relaunch actually). It means so much to so many people, and not all happy. But no one can deny it’s predominently altruistic effect. I found the history of Christmas to be very interesting. Here’s hoping you all have a wonderful Christmas season and an even better new year!
