Ad or Adventure

Sure, we’re all about good news and ads aren’t generally considered such, but with the impending winter weather ready to crush us into our yearly depression, deals on Hawaii vacations are a very good thing. Just like Clark, I’m banking on my Christmas bonus.

Wedding Surprise

Tessa Flitton had a last minute surprise as she began her walk down the aisle, and it was a wonderfully happy one. Hollywood couldn’t script it any better.

What You See Isn’t What You Get

Computers are still lightyears away from the function and power of a brain. But even our well-designed brains are fooled in certain situations. Michael Bach has put together a fairly comprehensive list of optical illusions that will just plain freak you out. (I can’t believe I just wrote “freak you out”.)

True Meaning of Team

Kurt Warner is not only an outstanding athlete, he’s an incredible person. For example, during this week’s game the starting quarterback, Mark Bulger, had been struggling. Coach Martz came to Warner and asked him if he was ready to go. Warner told him he’s always ready but, “Don’t do this to the kid.” Bulger entered the second half with the confidence of, not only his coach, but the man he’s been competing against for playing time. Bulger goes 18 of 26 for 139 yards and 2 TDs and the Rams win.

Your Work Purpose

What should I do with my life? I ask myself (and others) this question all the time and that’s healthy. Whether it be work, family, faith or something else, we should be focusing our attentions on worthwhile activities because life is short. Maybe a career change is in order?

Flying Cars and Futuristic Tech

20 years ago it seemed a foregone conclusion that we’d all be driving hover cars, a la The Jetsons, at some point. How long can we expect to wait? What about jetpacks? Space travel? MSN gives us this intriguing look at our “expected” future.

A Hindi-language film called Supari is now being offered to Kazaa users for $2.99. This marks a trend towards using alternative methods of distribution for films that often never had a chance to make a standard release. Low-budget film makers have more choices, which is a good thing.

Have you ever wanted to get a tattoo? Sure, sometimes people too spur-of-the-moment with “Let’s get tattoos!” and “Yeah!” then 30 minutes later it’s a done deal. What do you think?

Today’s 3D

It’s amazing what computers are capable of. That’s nothing new, what is new is that it used to take uber-expensive computers to get the job done. Now, some talented lad (in Germany?) is producing amazing work with nothing more than a desktop. Some images are spectacular. Progress, it does design good. [via Coudal]

Since ’86, he’s logged over 12,000 volunteer hours. It just goes to show, living your life in the service of others has some inherent benefits.

Fantasy Payday

I knew that Fantasy Football was big, what with all the networks and cable shows devoting more time to game, but $250 grand? That’s huge! Oh, I see… it costs $3,500 to enter. 3,500 x 204 players equals $714,000. Nevermind, the bank is keeping two-thirds. Stick with Yahoo! instead, it’s free.
