Ever have a tough time putting together a color scheme for a new Web site? Never fear my faithful friends, pixy has created a masterpiece—the Color Scheme builder. We should all send him money. [via Coudal]

Fun Car Hall of Fame

ortune put together this list of fun cars, calling it their Hall of Fame, but how could that list be complete without one of these?!? On the other hand, I’m not surprised my ’91 Corolla didn’t make the list.

New Kind of Bar

When college kids say, “I’ll meet you at the bar on 3rd street.” They may not be looking to grab a beer, more like some O2. Oxygen bars are a growth industy (especially in China) and tons of people are finding it the healthy way to ditch the stress and mellow out.

Dream Doesn’t Die for ‘Oldest’ College QB

Sport fans know Jim Valvano’s “Never give up” quote but it should apply to attitudes outside of the sporting world as well. In this story, Tom Fox was 30-years-old when he decided he wanted to play college football. Most people would pass it off as another “thing” we’d never do. But Fox never gave up and is now 34 and a third-year quarterback at a Division III school in Illinois. Even though he hasn’t made headlines or grand success, he has followed through and made an implausible dream come true.

Out-of-Wedlock Births Dropping

The District of Columbia, Texas, Maryland and Colorado are rewarded for improvement.

Washington, D.C., Colorado, Maryland and Texas will receive bonuses of $20 million from the federal government for reducing out-of-wedlock births over a two-year period.

In Texas, at least, abstinence programs like the one that Marilyn Ammon runs in Waco may be at the heart of the decline. [source]

VW’s ‘Slick’ Factory

It amazing to me that most businesses give a low priority to design. It’s almost an afterthought. Something an artist can tack on after we done the “hard part.” One company that gets design, is Volkswagen. Looking at their factory tells you the whole story. [via Coudal]

Coke’s SmartBoard

Sometimes when you read about something in a science-fiction book, you just know that someday we’ll have these in real life. Similarly, while watching Minority Report, we get the feeling that smart displays are going to happen. Viola! Coke has one working in London. [via BoingBoing]

Youth Drinking, Smoking Down

Survey shows that 12th graders drinking is down to 44% from 52.9% in 1992—smoking down to 1.3% from 4.7. Still problematic numbers, but good news nonetheless, that is, except for the increase in pot smoking. Two out of three isn’t too bad, right?

Most Sought-After Degrees

Still have time to make a decision about your college degree? MSN has put together this list of 10 degrees for success. Funny, they didn’t mention the “drop out of college, start an Internet company, go IPO for millions and retire” career path.

Eat Mor Chikin

Chick-Fil-A tops the list of Best Drive-Thru Restaurants. Wendy’s is the fastest and McDonald’s drops to 12th. I’m still waiting for someone to come out with a fast-food donut restaurant, tell me that’s not a great idea.

Shopatainment: The Early Days

It’s nothing truly new, but now shopatainment has a name. Using entertainment to draw in customers has been done since the dawn of time, but can’t you just imagine what stores will be doing in the future? I’ve already seen satellite sports feeds at a barbar shop. Movie houses turned restaurants. Video games at a shoe store. Surely the combinations are endless! [via Thunderstruck]

Need Wine Help?

Lately, we’ve been hearing a great deal about the health benefits that come from eating fish. But there’s also documented proof for the benefits of drinking red wine in moderation. But if you’re like me, with so many to choose from, which do I buy? Never fear, Epicurious to the rescue!

Saving A Life

Isn’t medical technology amazing? Who would have thought that they could actually perform surgery on a baby with spina bifida still inside the mother? That baby is now 4 years old. His name is Samuel Armas and the photograph of his tiny hand coming through the surgical opening won photographer, Michael Clancy, world-wide acclaim. Medical breakthroughs like these never cease to amaze me.
