The Future of Talk
Telecom is one of those ultra-huge industries with profit projections well into the unforeseeable future. Michael Robertson wants to upset their apple cart. Using a specialized version of voice-over-IP called session initiation protocol (SIP) to circumvent the telcos (somewhat) monopolized advantage, he hopes that you’ll use his company (and the Information Superhighway) to call your relatives in Arizona… all at a small price, of course. I say, competition is a good thing, keep it up Mike. [via BoingBoing]
