Dems Attack Santorum

First CNN and now the AP. Honest, truthful reporting is becoming more rare. In case you haven’t heard, Congressman Rick Santorum is underfire for a comment he made regarding a Supreme Court case. Here’s the quote from the AP story:

“If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual (gay) sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything,” the Pennsylvania lawmaker said in a recent interview, fuming over a landmark gay rights case before the high court that pits a Texas sodomy law against equality and privacy rights.

Please note that “(gay)” was added by the AP. Santorum did not say the word. It’s being inferred by the reporter along with the judgemental statement that followed the quote. Taking things out of context and misinterpreting quotes should be Journalism 101, but more and more news groups follow their agenda rather than best practices. Now his opponents are calling for his head even though he was merely reiterating Justice White’s 1986 opinion.

Don’t Think SARS, Think Sausage

Even though we all love to have fun, sometimes you need to sit down and focus on the really important things in life. Even with dangers like SARS and all, I think it’s critical at this time in our country’s evolution that we all learn who makes the best pizza. It’s just that important.

Cable Over DSL in the First Quarter

Cable is spanking DSL in a recent speed study. But real life is that DSL beats Cable sometimes and Cable beats DSL other times. Only thing we can do is learn from others—Broadband Reports.

How Male Is Your Brain?

How male or female is your brain? [These tests take some time, but I got EQ: 25 which is low even for a male. My SQ was 33, also more male than female. What does this tell me? I think I already knew that answer.]

Fair Tax

Representative John Lindor is sponsoring the Fair Tax bill which turns out to be H.R. 25 in this 108th Congress session. Here’s what I know. This bill may not be perfect, so I’ll give it a 92%. But if this bill is a 92, then our current system is an “F” at 63%.

What a Topsy Turvy World

Heard this ironic twist on Paul Harvey today.

The world has to be upside down.
When the best rapper is a white guy.
And the best golfer is a black guy.
And the Swiss hold the America’s Cup.
And France is accusing the United States of arrogance.
And Germany does not want to go to war.

Freedom of Religion Isn’t Everywhere

Islam doesn’t hold the patent on militant religiosity. In India, the Indian People’s Party solicited three surveys to better frame their Gujarat Anti-Conversion bill. Apparently, the purpose of this bill will be to make it illegal to convert from Hinduism to Islam or Christianity. Needless to say, proponents of freedom in the matters of religion are not happy with these actions.

Tesla: A Man Driven

Nikola Tesla, The Master of Lightning, was an extremely smart, albeit strange, man who wouldn’t let other peoples criticisms stop his drive to invent. He was most assuredly, one of the greatest inventors of the modern era.

‘The Lion, the Witch in the Theatre‚Äô

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis launched many a child’s imagination with this rich and colorful fantasy epic. The books were published over 50 years ago, and now they’re finally getting to the task of re-creating the first book in film. Much of what exists today in the world of fantasy and sci-fi fiction, owe their careers to the receptive public that Lewis nutured with Narnia.

Send Him a Bluey

The Brits are “sending the love” to their troops via the e-bluey. This process is based largely on American technology, so why aren’t we Yanks doing the same thing?

Filter This

So now the free-speech crowd is complaining that Google’s porn filter does more than it’s job. If they’d only agree to the reasonable solution of moving the porn people to a .xxx domain it would lessen the problem by 90%. But no, that’d make too much sense.

Smoke ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Norway, one step closer to socialism, voted yes to a ban on smoking in bars or restaurants country-wide. The ban will be enforced in the spring of 2004, at which time Norwegians will have less freedom than they have today. I wonder how much they mind?
